The Olympic spirit will shine bright in Oakville when Mayor Rob Burton and Members of Council host a special event celebrating local summer Olympic and Paralympic athletes on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex.

The celebration gets underway at 6:30 p.m. with an autograph session. Confirmed guests include two-time Olympic bronze medalist Diana Matheson, four-time Olympic medalist Adam Van Koeverden, and Olympic Canoe-Kayak athlete KC Fraser.

“This free event is Oakville’s opportunity to show our athletes in person how proud we are of their Olympic journey,” said Mayor Rob Burton. “I hope everyone will join us to celebrate their accomplishments not just as athletes, but as role models for our community’s youth.”

The event will also include a pre-game ceremony in advance of the Oakville Blades hockey game. Sports fans are encouraged to make an evening of the celebration and stick around to cheer on the Oakville Blades as they take on the Toronto Patriots. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Oakville Blades Hockey Club and its great tradition of hockey in our community. Kids under 12 can enjoy the game for free.
