Ashwood Glen is honoured to be part of Women Leaders and Allies International Women’s Day Event, hosted by the Burlington Chamber
💜Sonia Abbas, Owner and Director, Ashwood Glen School will be joining the panel for discussions wth other women in leadership.
Sonia Abbas is an award-winning female entrepreneur, educational innovator, and mother. As an immigrant to Canada, she recognized the transformative power of education, which led to her vision of shaping the next generation of young leaders and championing Education for a Better World.
She left a successful banking career to pursue her dream—founding Westpark Early Learning Centre — and then Ashwood Glen, Burlington’s only International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP World School—even amidst the challenges of the pandemic.
In just over a year, the school has more than doubled in size, becoming a thriving hub that not only nurtures young minds but also creates meaningful employment opportunities for local teachers and staff, empowering them to inspire future generations.
Sonia believes that education at a young age is where everything starts—fostering innovation, global awareness, and leadership.
Guided by the belief that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” (Nelson Mandela), Sonia continues to Inspire, Empower, and Excel, building a strong foundation to shape the leaders of tomorrow.
