Join us this Saturday, December 7th for a night full of Art and Music, a celebration of diverse Art forms, musical styles and emotions.
Fibre Art installation TEMPUS FUGIT, by Ixchel Suarez, art exhibit by community members and Great Music!
We begin our journey with the timeless melodies of Joe Hisaishi’s Studio Ghibli Medley, whisking us away to the magical worlds of beloved animated films. From there, we transition to the elegance of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, featuring the playful Miniature Overture and the bold Russian dance, Trépak.
The tango rhythms of Piazzolla’s Libertango follow, setting a passionate and vibrant tone. The spirit of the holidays arrives with lively renditions of Jingle Bell Rock and Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You, reminding us of the joy and warmth of the season.
Shifting moods, we hear the beautiful piano solo Yuri on Ice, followed by Rachmaninoff’s Etude-Tableaux—a profound exploration of the composer’s harmonic and rhythmic innovations. Elgar’s Salut d’Amour speaks of love, while Massenet’s Meditation de Thaïs captures deep beauty and longing through the violin.
We continue with a touching tribute in Edelweiss from The Sound of Music, followed by the uplifting Morning Has Broken. Then, Times Are Harder for Dreamers from the musical Amélie reminds us of the resilience of dreamers, before the soaring anthem Rise Up inspires hope and strength in the face of adversity.
Next, we take flight with On the Back of an Eagle, a whimsical choral work evoking a sense of wonder. The evening closes with the vibrant A Canadian Christmas, celebrating unity and inclusivity, and the moving You Raise Me Up, a song of strength and encouragement. Finally, we offer Wish, a heartfelt reflection on love between generations, and the joyful energy of Sleigh Bells to conclude our holiday-themed finale.
Thank you for joining us for this diverse musical journey, where every piece brings its own story and emotion to life. Enjoy the concert!
