A recently held fundraiser has resulted in a sizeable donation to Halton Chapter of Autism Ontario.
This year's efforts resulted in $15,400.00 being donated to the Halton Chapter of Autism Ontario. A portion of the funds will be used for an Annual Children's Christmas Party with the balance going towards sports programming offered to children and youth with Autism.
This fundraising evening took place on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Ivy Bar & Kitchen. Local businesses provided items that were used in the silent auction or for several raffles held through out the evening. Over 600 people attended enjoying the Ivy's complimentary as well as delicious food.
Halton Chapter of Autism Ontario is a non-profit organization, directed and managed by a dedicated core of (mostly) parent volunteers who are committed to ensuring that every individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is provided with the means to achieve the quality of life as a respected member of society. The chapter does not receive any government funding. All Chapter administrative functions are supported by the volunteers, donations from the community and fundraising initiatives.
The annual event, organized and hosted by the Halton Tactical Rescue Unit in partnership with the Halton Regional Police Association, has raised over $115,000.00 since its inception.
Chief Tanner remarked, "I am extremely proud of the members of our Service who organize and contribute to the success of this annual event."
