In South Oakville Centre previously known as Hopedale Mall a new restaurant opened called Tavolo. It is both part of the mall, but does have fully separate feel with an exterior entrance.
The restaurant is filled with natural light from a large curved bank of windows. The open design allows for a clear view of the kitchen, and three separate eating areas: a central dining room, the bar with comfortable chairs, and another dining room with bench seating which follows the curve of the windows. The aesthetic is polished concrete floors, white granite, iron, brick and wood. To add an eclectic feel they have an assortment of different chairs from comfy upholstered to solid oak library chairs. The feel of the restaurant is distinctly adult.

The food is Italian. The menu items are all in Italian, so you'll need to read the descriptions if you don't speak Italian. All the food is prepared with care and well plated. The portions allow the average diner to have the option to have either an appetizer or dessert and main-course. The selection of wine is solid and ranges in price from an $8.00 glass to $145.00 bottle. The menu features appetizers, paninis, salads, pizza, pastas, both fish and meat main courses. There are a few desserts to choose from and they range from a very sweet ice to a well executed chocolate cake. There doesn't appear to be a children's menu, but they would likely be able to put together a basic dish to satisfy most children. My only complaint is that if you are going to specialize in Italian food then I do expect fresh pasta, not dried.
The service is friendly. They are seasoned professionals, but weren't as familiar with the dishes, but that could be simply because the restaurant has only been open for a few weeks.
This is the fourth restaurant in west Oakville for these restauranteurs: Cucci, Firehouse, and Plank. Tavolo is a cross between Plank for decor and a slightly down scaled Cucci for food.
