Construction underway for newest Oakville public school

Construction of the newest public school in northeast Oakville, north of Dundas Street and east of Neyagawa Boulevard, has started, with the school anticipated to open in September of 2015.

This new two-storey, 82,000-square-foot elementary school will accommodate nearly 800 students and include eight Kindergarten rooms, and a Life Skills hub including two classrooms, kitchen area and sensory room.

The budget for construction of this school, including furniture and equipment, is $15.6 million. The Halton District School Board has awarded the architectural tender to Snyder Architects Inc., and the construction contract to Everstrong Construction Ltd.

The school is currently referred to as Northeast Oakville #1. The plans for the approved design can be found on the Halton District School Board website. The process to name the school will begin in January. Naming ballot boxes will be sent to neighbouring schools and local libraries, and an online submission form will also be uploaded to the Board’s website.
