At approximately 5:15pm on the 26th of September 2018, a collision occurred between a cyclist and a sport utility vehicle on Kerr Street just north of the Queen Elizabeth Way bridge. Due to the nature of the injuries sustained by the cyclist, the Halton Regional Police Service – Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and took carriage of the investigation.

Initial investigation suggests that the 52 year old male cyclist from Oakville had been travelling southbound on Kerr Street when he mounted the center curb median and entered the northbound lane where he struck the side of a northbound sport utility vehicle.

The cyclist who had not been wearing a helmet, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Hamilton General Hospital by Halton Region Paramedic Services. He is expected to survive. The driver of the sport utility vehicle, a 42 year old female also from Oakville remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
