Celebrating our 70th Anniversary - September 24, 2024
Community Living Oakville was founded by parents who dreamed of a better life for their sons and daughters. They wanted their children to learn in school, have friends, and be welcome in their communities. We continue that vision within the Town of Oakville.
Today the organization includes individuals, families, staff & volunteers dedicated to making sure that people with developmental disabilities are able to enjoy their right to lead active and productive lives in their communities.
A Brief History
Community Living: Bringing Full Citizenship to the Most Vulnerable Members of Our Community.
Years ago having a developmental disability was a sentence to be isolated. Education was denied. That changed when the Kelley and Gunn families decided their five-year-olds shouldn’t be “retired” from school. They independently hired a teacher and a tiny school grew to seven children and found a home at St. Jude’s Church.
From the vision of two parents to community-wide service in less than fifty years, the changes are monumental. Yet there is still a long way to grow. Community inclusion still remains elusive to many. Our goal is full community participation for the people we support.
Make a difference in the quality of people's lives by making a gift In Honour of someone special in your life. Gifts In Honour can celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or any other special occasions!

Supported Living
Home is much more than “where we live”. Home is a place where we like to be, a place where we feel comfortable, safe and in control. It is a place where we can create our own personal environment and enjoy family and friends.
Community Living Oakville is committed to encouraging lifestyles for people that promote their independence, participation, inclusion, friendships and citizenship in the community. We believe in being respectful of the uniqueness, dignity, well-being and privacy for each person receiving support.
Community Living Oakville provides a variety of residential supports for people based on their individual needs.
Group Living
Each home provides support for up to 5 people residing in a group living setting. The support provided is person-directed and designed to meet each person’ goals, wishes, needs and dreams.
The focus of the support Community Living Oakville provides extends far beyond ensuring that a person’s basic needs are met. We promote personal decision making, meaningful community involvement and assist people to develop and maintain independence in their everyday lives.
SERVICES
Supported Independent Living
