Celebrate Canada Day in Oakville.
Canada Day returns to Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park!
The Town of Oakville invites residents to mark Canada Day with a family-friendly evening of fun activities, entertainment, food trucks and fireworks on Friday, July 1, from 6 to 10 p.m.
The event will feature stilt walkers and activities for families, including arts and crafts, sports activities and giant-sized board games like checkers, chess and Jenga. There will also be culturally enriched activities run by local performing and creative arts groups, a designated area for residents to take a moment to reflect on what it means to be Canadian. The following group will perform, including Singalong Tim & the Pacifiers, Balletomane Dance School, and Oakville-born and raised band, The Lonely Hearts.
At 8 p.m., a bagpiper and drummer will welcome dignitaries. Sheridan College’s Indigenous Engagement Director Elijah M. Williams will deliver the land acknowledgement, followed by the national anthem performed by Jakin Cadieux and accompanied by Ray Tiberia.
The fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m., weather permitting.
Attendees are encouraged to take the pay-one-way Oakville Transit shuttle to and from Bronte GO Station (everyone under the age of 12 ride for free). Shuttle service begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs every 10 minutes.
The last shuttle to the park leaves Bronte GO Station at 9:30 p.m. Return shuttle service to Bronte GO Station will begin once the fireworks display has ended. Road closures will be in effect, and no event parking is available onsite.
