Greenbelt Under Review – Public Meeting

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Town Hall

The Town of Oakville has made a request to the Province that all the Publicly Owned lands in the Merton study area (this would include Deerfield Golf Course) be put in the Greenbelt. In my opinion, this would be an important step in securing the preservation of these lands going forward.

The concept of the Greenbelt is undergoing a review. The Province is holding Public Meetings in various locations to get a feeling of what the public wants. There are people who would like land removed from the Greenbelt for development and other purposes. Those people are likely to be in attendance speaking out against the Greenbelt. I have talked to lots of people who would like to see the Greenbelt expanded. Hopefully that side of the debate will be heard at the meeting as well.

What are your thoughts about the Greenbelt? Would you like to see the Greenbelt expanded to include the Publicly owned lands in the Merton Study area? Would you like to see Deerfield Golf Course receive Greenbelt protection?

I invite you to come to the meeting so you can have your thoughts go on the record.

Hope to see you Thurs. May 7th, Town Hall, with an open house running from 6pm-7pm and the meeting itself running from 7pm -9 pm.
