To commemorate ‘Freedom Day’, the Halton Regional Police Service are honoured to host Mariatu Kamara, a child victim of the bloody civil war that took place in Sierra Leone from 1991 to 2002.

Ms. Kamara is UNICEF Canada’s Special Representative for Children in Armed Conflict and author of ‘Bite of the Mango’.  She will share her courageous story of survival during a rebel attack that left her with no hands.
The public is welcome to attend this free event with donations of clothing, coats, eyeglasses, books, canned food and spare change accepted.
