Culture Days was created in response to growing recognition that a vibrant arts and cultural sector contributes directly to a healthy and stable society. Culture Days heightens awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. To celebrate Culture Days in Oakville, QEPCCC is offering the following free interactive activities!
Pre-registered Workshops:
Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. the morning of the event at the workshop’s studio. Spaces
are limited. Register early to avoid disappointment.

10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Culture Days Mural: All Ages Drop-In— Clean Studio 2
Drop in for a fun, collaborative mural project created by a local artist and QEPCCC instructor specifically for Culture Days. We invite all artists, emerging and established, to contribute to this special artwork. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

10–10:30 a.m.
Digital Discoveries: Children’s Workshop — Digital Arts Studio

Be daring! Try diverse and innovative digital art making. Work collaboratively and experiment with photography and design in our Digital Arts Lab. You and your young digitally-savvy artist will explore our Digital Arts Studio and make art using technology. Child registers and adult accompanies. One child to one adult. Maximum 12
participants. Age: 7+ *pre-registration required*
10 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Streetwise Actors/Art House Theatre Experience: Open House— Art Studio A075

A workshop showcasing the theatre programs offered by Streetwise Actors and Art House theatre groups. Art House is aimed for children ages 7 to 11 while Streetwise Actors is for youth ages 11 to 18. Both programs teach basic acting skills, and allow participants to perform. These fun and creative skills build selfconfidence and self-awareness, and teach self-reliance, team work and respect.

1–2 p.m.
Cartooning: Children’s Workshop— Clean Studio 1
Feeling zany? Humour and creativity are at the heart of this workshop focused on drawing. Incorporating classic portraiture technique with an exploration of cartooning, students will develop their own caricatures and cartoons. Child registers and adult accompanies. One child to one adult. Maximum 12
participants. Age: 7+ *pre-registration required*

3-4 p.m.
Portrait Painting: Children’s workshop — Clean Studio 1
Explore painting techniques and be introduced to composition, colour and form using creative exploration and technical skill development. An instructor will demonstrate colour mixing and the proportions and techniques of how to construct a face. Child registers and adult accompanies. One child to one adult. Maximum 12 participants. Age: 7+ *pre-registration required*

10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Innovative Acting Auditions Workshops — Breakout Room B032
Children aged 7+ will have the opportunity to learn how to act and audition for a locally produced short film.

12:30-1:30 p.m.
Meet YTV’s Life with Boys star Nathan McLeod for autograph signing.
