Diversion and Fearful Symmetries
Diversion, choreographed by Robert Glumbek (world premiere – Ballet BC, November 18 2011; Ontario premiere – November 2016). Diversion is an explosive, high-energy work, embodying ProArteDanza’s motto, “passion in performance”. Diversion examines various departures we experience in life, both the expected and the unexpected; the inevitable and the undesired. The work also explores subjects of loss, isolation, and the imposed psychological journey that is the outcome of unexpected departures.

Fearful Symmetries, choreography by Roberto Campanella (World premiere – November 2016). Using the music of the same name by John Adams, Campanella will place his own experience as an immigrant to Canada in juxtaposition with the current generation of young artists influenced by urban aesthetics and pop culture. According to Adams, the music is structured to give the impression of continuous movement over a shifting landscape.
