Oakville Golf Club

For 47 years Oakville Golf Club has been honouring its members who have served the cause of freedom in the armed services with the Tin Hat Memorial Golf Tournament and Mess Dinner. The club honours each of the armed forces in rotation, and this year it is the turn of the Royal Canadian Air Force. As this is also the 100th Anniversary of Vimy Ridge, the Oakville Golf Club has organized a flypast by the planes of the Great War Flying Museum.

The planes will fly over the club at 6:30pm on Friday, September 8th, and the public is welcome to come and watch.

These are the same planes that flew over the Vimy monument in France at the 100th anniversary ceremony. All but one are full-size authentic recreations of World War I aircraft.

The fleet consists of:

• One 85% scale British SE5A
• One Sop with 1-1/2 Strutter – 2 place — machine gunner facing rear, the pride of the fleet
• One Nieuport 28 — the fastest replica
• One Fokker D.VII — a favorite at airshows, currently under reconstruction
• One Fokker Dr.I Triplanes — in the colours and markings of the famous and dreaded Baron Manfred von Richthofen
• One full scale British SESA

The Oakville Golf Club is grateful to Terry Smith of Re/Max Aboutowne Realty for sponsoring the Fly past
