Old Palermo Schoolhouse

The Trafalgar Township Historical Society is excited to present Shannon Kyles as our guest speaker at the Old Palermo Schoolhouse on Wed. Nov. 11th at 7pm. Ms. Kyles teaches the history of Ontario Architecture at Mohawk College in Hamilton. Her love of heritage architecture and conservation bounds outside academic walls as she speaks and visits with people across the province who share her wish to preserve and repurpose our older structures.

Her enthusiasm for keeping old wood, brick, stone and glass in use is supported by ideas on how to save and reuse them. Not only does her work in heritage conservation with others have real results, she personally has taken on restoration of an old cottage (an article was written about it in
The Globe and Mail.)

It may be said that Shannon’s mantra is: “…we must make it socially unacceptable to not save them”.
