Halton Eco-Festival celebrates 13 Years

Halton Eco-Festival held at the Glen Abbey Community Centre has attracted environmentally interested people for 13 years, and will be held on April 6th from 10 AM to 5 PM. This one day event features 45 exhibitors which include: environmental groups to major corporations demonstrating their latest offers and information. In order to be as inclusive as possible the festival is free to the public.

Over 2500 people attended last year’s festival. The numbers keep increasing as environmental awareness becomes more of an issue. Even the President of the United States talked about it in his State of the Union Address. Being green is now mainstream.

For the kids, take a stroll down Bio-diversity lane with a whole range of live animals, reptiles and birds. The animal ambassadors are Ron Woolley of Exotic Critter Tales, Jenny Pearce of Sciensational Sssnakes!! and Jenn Bock of Wild Ontario. Two arts and crafts programs will run in the morning and afternoon. The kids will love it.

This is a wellness fair too as alternative health care is well represented; discover the benefits of aroma and massage therapy, yoga, chiropractics, nutrition classes, naturopathy and acupuncture. So if this is an area of interest, you’ll have a number of experts to talk with. A series of lectures will take place throughout the day bringing the very latest information about the proposed pipeline through Halton among other environmental topics.

Regular buses will be running from Bronte  & Oakville GO Stations right to the festival, and there is plenty of free parking for bikes and cars. So plan to come out and enjoy the fun at the Halton Eco-Festival April 6. Grab a coffee, a bite to eat, let the kids play as well as learn, bid on the silent auction items, or enjoy a lecture. You might be lucky enough to get one of the free Blue Bins given out by Region of Halton.
