The Oakville Federal Liberal Riding Association has been on the search for a candidate since Oakville MP John Oliver decided not to run in the upcoming federal election. Three potential candidates stepped forward: Anita Ananda, Kevin Flynn, and Tamur Shah.

On May 27, 2019,  Mainstreet Research released its latest poll. The contacted 602 eligible voters. Mainstreet’s margin of error is +/- 3.99% with a confidence level of  95%.

Their poll indicates that if Kevin Flynn becomes the Federal Liberal Candidate for the riding of Oakville he would win. However, what happens on October 21st could result in a different outcome.

According to the poll if:

  1. Anita Anand becomes the candidate she would receive 29.7% and Terence Young would receive 36% of the popular vote. Undecided voters make up 16.8%
  2. Kevin Flynn becomes the candidate he would receive 45.7% and Terence Young would receive 32% of the popular vote. Undecided voters make up 9.5%
  3. Tamur Shah becomes the candidate he would receive 27.1% and Terence Young would receive 35.9% of the popular vote. Undecided voters make up 18.2%

The Oakville Federal Riding Association membership vote on Wednesday, June 12th at Le Dome Banquet Hall, 1173 North Service Road East (east of Trafalgar Road). The event is from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Oakville Liberals have a choice of three candidates:

Mainstreet asked one other interesting poll question.

Which party would you vote for?

Responses:

  1. Liberal 43%
  2. Conservative 31%
  3. Undecided 13%

Trudeau fares better with female voters and Scheer trends better with male voters. This is true of Oakville Riding Candidates.

Nanos analytics ending May 23, 2019 show the Conservative Party leading (34%), followed closely by the Liberal Party (30%). The NDP are a distant third (16%). The Liberals and Conservatives were tied in February, since then Liberal support has steadily declined. Nanos interviews with 1000 eligible voters. It is accurate within plus or minus 3.1%, 19 times out of 20.

Terrence Young is the acclaimed Conservative Federal candidate for the Oakville Riding.
