The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating a number of Land Rover thefts in Oakville and Burlington.
Within the last week, the Town of Oakville experienced two thefts of Land Rovers from residential driveways. The vehicles in question were removed between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:00 am. Both vehicles were locked and all the keys to the vehicles were accounted for by the owners.
Security camera footage has shown suspects approaching the residences on foot and then utilizing a device to defeat the vehicles’ security systems. Police believe the technology used may be accessing the signal transmitted by the vehicles’ key fobs.
Police are reminding the public of the following vehicle theft prevention tips:
Community safety is a shared responsibility. If you see suspicious activity in your neighbourhood, please report it immediately.
Anyone with information about these Land Rover thefts is asked to contact Detective Omar Nadim at the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905 825-4747 ext. 2278 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-8477 (TIPS) or through the web at www.haltoncrimestoppers.com.
