Statistically, Canadians are not fans of the Monday following the Super Bowl.
More than a quarter of Canadians have taken the Monday after the big game off in the past, according to Talker Research. Plus, Mondays in general are the least favourite day of the week for 87 per cent of the population.
Coors Light is hoping to remedy this, with a limited edition Monday Light beer hitting shelves soon, just in time for the Super Bowl.
“We all know that many Canadians don’t generally love Mondays, but the Monday after the Big Game can feel like a particularly slow start to the week,” Leslie Malcolm, Vice President Marketing, Canada, Molson Coors Beverage Company said in a release. “So, we’re giving new meaning to the phrase ‘Case of the Mondays’ with our limited-edition case of Coors Light. Mondays Light is our way of having a bit of fun with Canadian fans leading up to the Big Game where they can catch our exciting new spot.”
Those who need to go the extra mile to cure their Monday blues can enter a contest to send two people to Super Bowl LX on Feb 8, 2026 in Santa Clara, California.
This year’s game, Super Bowl LIX, is set for Sunday, Feb. 9. It’s still yet to be determined who will be playing, but rap superstar Kendrick Lamar is set to perform at half time.
The new name comes after Coors Light released a series of ads with spelling errors, saying "Mountain Cold Refershment" instead of "Refreshment". The company later released a statement saying "Mondays, am I right?"
