The Oakville Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 65th Anniversary on Wednesday June 11 at its office from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. All are invited to attend this special Business After Hours event where a number of Chamber Member businesses will serve complimentary food samples, birthday cake and refreshments.
In 1949, the Chamber of Commerce was federally incorporated under the Federal Boards of Trade Act and had 30 members. The Chamber's membership has since grown to 1,150 businesses representing over 33,000 employees. Among the top five Chambers or Boards of Trade in Ontario, the Oakville Chamber is one of the largest associations of any kind in Oakville.
"We welcome all members, past and present, to come help us celebrate," says Chamber Chair Orla Johnston
Since those early days, the organization has grown and evolved to become the pre-eminent voice of the Oakville business community that it is today. Through advocacy, corporate benefits, networking opportunities, business development, and educational forums, the Chamber works to foster a healthy, engaged, and sustainable business environment and economy in Oakville.
"I am honoured to serve as Chair of the Chamber this year," says Chamber Chair Orla Johnston. "This is just the first of several events planned to commemorate our 65th Anniversary over the next few months. We welcome all members, past and present, to come help us celebrate the Oakville Chamber's rich history of serving the local business community."
