A woman from Oakville was listed as the award recipient of the lifetime achievement in philanthropic leadership.
The award was presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals during its National Philanthropy Day Luncheon in Hamilton on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024. The annual ceremony recognizes organizations, groups and individual change makers who have made notable philanthropic impacts to their communities.
Cameron serves as Director of Community Engagement and Business Development at Acclaim Health, a home care provider in Halton that's been active for more than 90 years. Cameron has actively led some of the organization's large-scale campaigns and programs.
She led a $10 million fundraising campaign to establish Patty’s Place, a dementia care centre, and co-led Developing Diverse Leaders Program.
Her efforts have also addressed broader community needs, such as the Because You Care Campaign, which provided support to vulnerable populations grappling with challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cameron was also praised for her fundraising efforts. According to Acclaim Health, since joining the organization, its annual fundraising revenue has risen from $185,000 to $2.4 million, enabling the charity to deliver services to more than 25,000 people each year in Halton and surrounding areas.
"I have been incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by people who believe that extraordinary things can be achieved when good people work together," Cameron said when receiving the award.
"It’s been a privilege to be a part of this amazing community and I’m grateful to everyone who has challenged me, mentored me, encouraged me and danced with me along the way."
In addition to her role at Acclaim Health, Cameron is also a member of the United Way of Halton and Hamilton’s Campaign Cabinet.
