Oakville winemaker celebrates 25 years in business

A popular local winemaker celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday with friends and family, marking an emotional but fulfilling milestone for the store owners.

Twenty-five years ago, The Village Winemaker opened its doors on Trafalgar Road in Oakville. Since then, the store has relocated to Iroquois Shore Road and now finally to 364 Kerr Street in Kerr Village.

With the many changes in Oakville and the world, shop owner John Seaga and his team are proud to have reached this remarkable milestone.

"I was thinking before I came in, 'Why did you do this?' and money was not it. It was actually so that I could make my own decisions," said Seaga. "At its core, we're a family and a family business, and the decisions that we make are made for the benefit of our family."

Seaga looked around the room at all the people who helped along this journey, from co-workers to customers to the man who gave him his citizenship. It was a very powerful moment for everyone in the room.

Mayor Rob Burton said, "Twenty-five years in business is an outstanding achievement, and to be here on Kerr Street for 25 years is to have seen an amazing amount of history of our town."

Congratulations, Village Winemaker!
