Oakville's "100 Guys Who Care" (and a couple more) announced at a special ceremony this week that they are donating more than $10,000 to a local not-for-profit child care centre.
The Oakville branch of fundraising organization 100 Guys Who Care raised over $10,000 in their fourth quarter this year, with Milton's Darling Home for Kids being the recipients of this quarterly fundraising drive.
The announcement was made at a charitable event held on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in Oakville, where members presented a large cheque.
100 Guys Who Care began after the 100 Women Who Care group was first formed in Michigan back in 2006, then coming to Canada in 2012. Since the creation of the group, there are several "100"s groups that now operate Canada-wide.
How 100 Guys Who Care raises money is each member of the group donates $100 every three months. Once everyone has finished their donations for the quarter, all of that money gets accumulated and is donated to a lesser known charity or organization of the groups choosing.
After the group gets their list down to three charities, they host a charitable event at the end of each quarter where a spokesperson comes from each charity and have them give a Dragons Den-type pitch to the group - explaining why they should donate to their charity.
This quarter's winner was The Darling Home for Kids. The Milton based centre provides children with medical complexities and their parents a home away from home while also giving them the best care possible.
The facility is situated on a state-of-the-art facility set on a 77-acre woodlot and has seven bedrooms that can accommodate up to 12 children for overnight care.
100 Guys Who Care is always looking for new members and new charities to help support, for those looking to join the organization you can join them here and also suggest charities for them to promote.
