Environment Canada has upgraded its air quality advisory from Moderate to High Risk for Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
Original Post: August 10, 2016 at 12:50PM.
Environment Canada and Halton Region have issued their first Air Quality warning for Oakville as of 11:30 AM for Wednesday and Thursday. This will be the first air quality warning issued this summer.
For today, Wednesday, August 10, 2016 the warning is rated at High Risk. This means that for people at high risk (breathing and heart issues) should reschedule or reduce outdoor activities with a special emphasis for children and seniors. For the general population it is suggested that you consider reducing or rescheduling their outdoor activities. Should they experience breathing difficulties such as fits of coughing and throat irritation that they rest immediately.
Environment Canada expects the air quality to improve to moderate risk this evening, and bump up again on Thursday, but to still be at moderate risk.
More information on Air Quality Statement from Environment Canada or Halton Region can be found on their websites. So for today try to be particularly helpful for family, friends and neighbours who might need additional assistance.
