Calling all local artists!

Halton Region and all four municipalities, Oakville included, are seeking a multidisciplinary artist, artist team or artist collective to lead an interactive activity as part of Culture Days 2024.

If that's not enough to entice local creatives, a $6,000 grant is on the line to help see the project come to fruition for the annual celebration of arts and culture that will run from Sept. 20 to Oct. 13.

Proposals may include interactive art projects, hands-on workshops, and/or interactive performances.

One artist, or team of artists, will be chosen for the project. Their initiative must:

  • Include a community-based activity clearly tied to Culture Days in each of the four municipalities (Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville)
  • Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Halton Region
  • Foster a sense of unity and collaboration in the community
  • Be engaging and provide an opportunity for patrons to express themselves and contribute to a larger dialogue about the theme of home and belonging
  • Take place indoors
  • Be a drop-in style activity for large group participation.

The deadline to apply is July 31 at 4 p.m. The successful candidate will be chosen on Aug. 15.

Calls for artists for this and other projects can be found on Oakville.ca
