Today's spotlight is on Oakville News' Ben Brown, whose story "New fields now open at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex" was published on April 12.
Below is the full story, in case you missed it.
There's exciting news for sports enthusiasts in Oakville as Sixteen Mile Sports Complex has added two brand new turf fields that are now open to the public!
Visitors are welcome to play soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and more on artificial turf fields 1 and 4.
Natural turf fields 2 and 3 will open on May 17, along with a new cricket field on May 18.
Currently being built in front of the new fields is a field house, which will include change rooms, washrooms and a concession stand, according to the town's Communications Advisor Julia Le.
For a glimpse into what's being planned, the town has provided a virtual tour.
Preparation work for the additional sports park features, including volleyball, tennis, pickleball, basketball courts, and more, will begin this spring and extend throughout the summer. Construction of the courts is scheduled for spring 2025, with an anticipated opening in the fall of the same year.
As the expansion of Sixteen Mile Sports Complex continues, the town says that parking areas will be affected in three stages throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
Further information can be found in the town's public notice.
