Oakville Community Foundation (OCF) has announced the 2024 recipients for two of their annual volunteer awards.
The OCF has announced that Brian Hanna has been awarded the Adrian Coote Volunteer Award and the Budd family has been awarded the Family Founders Cup.
The awards were announced at The Foundation’s annual Holiday Event on December 4 at the Oakville Club, with Foundation Fundholders, volunteers and charity partners in attendance.
The Adrian Coote Volunteer Award is named for The Foundation’s former Board Chair, Adrian Coote, and recognizes a volunteer who has given extraordinary services to the Oakville Community Foundation.
This year, The Foundation was proud to name Brian Hanna as the recipient.
Brian served with The Foundation as a Board Member for two terms before becoming Board Chair in 2019 and tirelessly led The Foundation through the COVID-19 pandemic. Together with his wife Julia, they created their Fund in 2014.
When given the opportunity to serve on the Board, Brian saw it as his opportunity to “pay it forward” to the community.
“We’re grateful to all of the volunteers and generous philanthropists in our community who continue to work with the Oakville Community Foundation,” said Wendy Rinella, CEO of The Foundation. “We wouldn’t have been able to accomplish so much great work without their long-term support.”
The 2024 winner of the Family Founders Cup is the Budd Family.
The Budd family – Bonnie and Stewart and their sons Terry, Chris and Darryl — established the Budd Family Foundation in 1997 as a way of saying “Thanks” to the community. In The Foundation’s 1997 annual report, Stewart Budd was quoted as saying: “Oakville’s a great place to do business, and The Foundation is a great way for us to show our appreciation.”
Bonnie was instrumental in setting up the Budd Family Foundation and since that time her sons, Terry, Darryl and Chris, and grandchildren have continued the family tradition of generosity.
The Family Founders Cup recognizes a family’s multi-generational impact in our community and is named after The Foundation’s founding families: Ann Mulvale, Bruce Etherington, Jim Ayres, Larry Wilson, William MacLeod, Bill Deyell and Don Noble.
