NEWS RELEASE
MOUNTSBERG CONSERVATION AREA

CAMPBELLVILLE – Winterlit returns beginning Dec. 29 for another season of magical evenings at Mountsberg Conservation Area. This award-winning event brings the winter woods to life along two illuminated trails featuring art installations made using sustainable materials. The sparkling Sugar Bush and Winterlit trails each offer a gentle walk with fireside lounges and photo stations throughout to capture the magical moments with friends and loved ones.
“Every year, park visitors come to Winterlit to enjoy a peaceful walk on the trails lined with illuminated art installations,” said Craig Machan, Director of Parks & Operations.
“These exhibits aren’t just nice to look at, they are sustainable at their core. Our creative team makes beautiful art pieces with upcycle materials and ash tree wood removed from our parks because of the invasive Emerald Ash Borer beetle. All the artwork is lit using LED lights to help reduce the event's environmental impact.”
In addition to the outdoor light display, Winterlit guests can also:
- Check out the Book Nook cabin where they can take part in a winter book exchange and play board games
- Stop by the Den to learn about Mountsberg’s resident animals
- Support Conservation Halton’s Animal Care Fund by purchasing a heart to paint that can be taken home or added to a featured art display
- Take home a branded wood souvenir of their visit
- Get up close and personal with one of our resident raptors by adding a Discover Owls experience to their visit (additional fee applies—Friday evenings only)
- Take a guided Star Walk to learn about the night sky (additional fee applies—Saturdays only)
- Make a beeswax candle to take home (additional fee applies—Sundays only)
Winterlit runs from Dec. 29 to Jan. 7 (Jan. 2 excepted) and Fridays through Sundays from Jan. 12 to Feb. 17 at Mountsberg Conservation Area — 2259 Milburough Town Line, Campbellville.
For an elevated experience, Winterlit offers special Enchanted Evenings on Dec. 31 and Feb. 14 for New Year’s and Valentine’s Day celebrations. Enchanted Evenings bring extra joy to Winterlit with a bar, live music, magic acts, roaming light and fire performers, and activities like candle making. These evenings are the perfect way to experience nature during winter and make lasting memories.
