Oakville's annual Canada Day celebration is coming back to Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park!

Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park's Canada Day party is the largest in town, with thousands of attendees each year.

The event is on July 1 "for residents of all ages," according to organizers. This year’s event will have extended hours for more time to enjoy family-friendly activities, live entertainment, food trucks, and a special fireworks display.

The fun starts at 4 p.m. with performances by local community groups and the opportunity for attendees to try a variety of sports, make crafts, have their faces painted and visit community booths.

Starting at 6 p.m. on the main stage, Juno award-winning artist Chris McKhool’s Earth, Seas & Air Concert and Cajun band Swamperella will perform, followed by Oakville-raised headliners, The Lonely Hearts. Strolling entertainment will include stilt walkers, a juggler, and a magician.

At 10 p.m., weather permitting, a fireworks display will light up the sky as the grand finale of the festivities.

A free Oakville Transit shuttle service from Bronte GO Station is being offered starting at 3:45 p.m., with shuttles running every 10 minutes. The last shuttle to the park will depart at 9:30 p.m., and return shuttles will be available after the fireworks.

New this year, a local choir will lead the crowd through the singing of the national anthem to kick off the welcome ceremony starting at 8 p.m.

"Town events, such as the Canada Day celebration, are part of what make Oakville a vibrant and livable community for all," said Mayor Rob Burton. "My Council colleagues and I look forward to celebrating Canada Day with residents at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park."

More information including the full event schedule, road closure information, and updates, can be found on the town's Canada Day webpage.
