HALTON DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

Beginning school is an exciting step for children and their parents/guardians, and the Halton District School Board (HDSB) wants to make that transition as smooth as possible.
In October and November, the HDSB is hosting Calling All Three-Year-Olds Kindergarten Open Houses in Acton, Georgetown, Milton, Burlington and Oakville to answer any questions families may have and help future students feel comfortable and confident as they start their educational journey.
Future students and their families are invited to attend any of the following Kindergarten Open Houses, to be held between 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
- Acton: Tuesday, Oct. 1 – McKenzie-Smith Bennett Public School (69 Acton Boulevard)
- Georgetown: Tuesday, Oct. 8 – Silver Creek Public School (170 Eaton Street)
- Milton: Tuesday, Nov. 5 – Viola Desmond Public School (1450 Leger Way)
- Burlington: Tuesday, Nov. 12 – John William Boich Public School (2474 Sutton Drive)
- Oakville: Tuesday, Nov. 19 – Post’s Corners Public School (2220 Caldwell Drive)
The Open Houses provide a welcoming space for children and their families to familiarize themselves with the school environment and build excitement for this new experience.
At the Open House, students and parents/guardians will:
- Explore Kindergarten classrooms
- Learn more about play-based inquiry learning
- Pick up information, a free children's book and a tote bag
- Access information from community partners in Halton
- Receive information about before and after school care
- Connect with HDSB staff

Registration for Kindergarten begins in January 2025 and will be conducted in-person or by completing the online pre-registration form on the HDSB website (hdsb.ca). Children born in 2021 can start Kindergarten in September 2025.
