Sunday's Diwali festival in downtown Oakville brought locals from all walks of life to Centennial Square

Downtown Oakville's Centennial Square saw a special Diwali street market and celebration yesterday afternoon, Nov. 3, 2024.

The Diwali celebration stretched through the square, outside of the Central Library branch in downtown Oakville. The celebration of lights festival brought together people from all walks of life to enjoy great entertainment, food, and company.

"We have so many different people from so many different walks of life come today," said a spokesperson for the celebration. "We welcome all cultures with open arms, we a great crowd of people coming from all over Canada."

The festival included about 30 different booths, including those selling Indian jewellery, gifts, clothing, and several serving different foods.

There was also a henna tattoo station and a face painting station, which was offered free of charge to attendees.

The festival also included a singing competition on the main stage, drawing a crowd of nearly 100 spectators.
