Oakville's annual Canada Day celebration had a record-breaking turnout with an estimated 35,000 people who came to enjoy the festivities.

Oakville's annual Canada Day celebration yesterday, July 1, 2024, had a record-breaking turnout with an estimated 35,000 people who came to enjoy the festivities.

Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park saw non-stop foot traffic all evening as attendees laid out picnics, enjoyed live performances, met local organizations, and celebrated Canada's 157th birthday the way it should be celebrated: together.

The atmosphere was electric from the start, and it showed no sign of slowing down as the event showcased amazing talent from local bands and gymnasts, along with seemingly limitless food options from food trucks!

Local politicians appeared stunned by the turnout and were very pleased to be part of such a successful event, as they expressed to the crowd from the event stage.

"It is a privilege and honour to be your member of parliament," said MP Anita Anand, "it is a privilege and honour to see you all here tonight to celebrate the best country in the world!"

Mayor Rob Burton addressed the crowd before the fireworks ceremony, saying, "This is the biggest crowd we've ever had at this point in the festivities, and later tonight, we're going to have the most spectacular fireworks you've ever seen! Are you ready for the fireworks?"

The crowd cheered, and the night ended with a vibrant fireworks show as families and friends gathered across the pier and watched in amazement.
