BurlingtonToday received the following Letter to the Editor from reader David Searle in response to the "nauseating $61.9 billion deficit revelation":
Christmas season scrooge Trudeau’s deplorable treatment and stupendous judgement towards Chrystia Freeland, the bedrock of his government thru the Covid 19 crisis and Trump’s 1st term trade negotiations, unquestionably exposes his “ruthless, bully-boy tactics as an abusive boss” particularly towards women as I see it.
It is as if the dire, gut-wrenching $61.9 billion deficit for ’23 – ’24 that even eclipsed Harper’s highest deficit during the “Great Recession” was being blamed on the Deputy P.M.; however, it is crystal clear that Trudeau’s insatiable lust for power over party and announcing billions in spending at ever turn illuminate that he is the culprit that is cruelly crushing the standard of living for tomorrow’s generation!
Today’s Liberals, who lost to senior ministers and had a landslide defeat to the Conservatives in the B.C. byelection all in one day are of the Wynne-McGuinty nature that likewise burdened Ontario with more debt during their tenure then all that was amassed since the founding of the province, in a party that has “forsaken the Chretien-Martin era surpluses” for a drowning sea of debt!
The height of hypocrisy was when the pro-union NDP still would not welcome a non-confidence motion after the Liberals ordered the posties back to work and with the latest poll showing Jagmeet’s NDP finally tied with the Liberals in support which combined was astounding below that enjoyed by the Conservatives!
Oh, and if like myself your wondering why your groceries prices have gone into the stratosphere, it is staunch Trudeau ally Environment Minister Steven Guibeault’s unyielding, inflexible, indefinitely soaring carbon taxes on farmers, transportation to food terminals, and even the fuel for the transport trailer cooling units that have gone unabated “oblivious to the unprecedented economic hardship of Canadians”.
When you factor in the significantly escalated CPP and EI premiums on business that have hindered our manufacturing cost competitiveness and that in concert with carbon taxes are accelerating home construction company costs you can grasp why free enterprise in Canada is floundering as never before.
This New Year Eve, let us celebrate in the knowledge that by October 2025 this Canadian nightmare will have its cessation welcoming in a new government that will live within it’s means torpedoing “the debt-servicing beast” that hampers our nation’s potential!
Sincerely,
David C. Searle,
