The season of giving is here, and the need to help neighbours and families in need has never been greater.

That’s where you come in – with plenty of suggestions being offered by the United Way Halton and Hamilton, which has once again kicked off its annual Holiday Helping Hand campaign.

Here’s the different ways area residents can contribute:

  • Adopt a family or individual – the registration deadline is Dec. 6, and all gift items must be dropped off to the UW’s Community Donation Warehouse in Burlington on Dec. 11 or 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The suggested spending amount is $100 to $150 per family member. Additional details will be provided with registration confirmation.
  • Gift drive and kit packing – purchase a gift, run a gift drive with coworkers or friends, or create kits to help make the season merry and bright for all. All items must be dropped off at the donation warehouse on Dec. 9 or 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A link to schedule your drop off time will be provided upon registration, which runs until Dec. 6. Among the suggested gift items are baby supplies, children and youth stocking stuffers, teen and adult stockings, a household basics kit and period promise kits.
  • Volunteering – a number of opportunities are available to give of your time, including at the community donation warehouse, Food for Life and various holiday dinners and events.

Visit the United Way Halton and Hamilton for further information on donation and volunteer specifics and instructions.
