The town of Oakville has sustained two power outages in local neighbourhoods over the past three days.
Oakville Hydro reported the first outage on Dec. 28, 2024 at 4:29 p.m. in the area of Littlewood Dr and Windfield Dr. which is very close to the Walmart plaza.
The outage affected 135 customers.

Crews attended to the problem as soon as they could and attended to a defective transformer at the corner of Glenashton Drive and Rougecrest Drive.
Workers used switching technology and power was restored to the majority of impacted customers by 7:00 p.m. and the remaining customers had their power restored at 9:45 p.m. according to Oakville Hydro.
All power now restored in Northeast #Oakville in the area of Littlewood Drive and Windfield Drive. If your power is still out, please call 905-825-9400.

Less than two days later, another outage was reported at Jones St. and Hixon St. which is which is near Bronte Rd and Rebecca St.
The outage was reported at 5:17 a.m. on Dec. 30, 2024.

According to Oakville Hydro, the outage was caused by a defective high-voltage lead on Jones Street.
13 customers were affected by the outage and crews were able to repair all damages and restore power at 7:49 a.m.
