The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) has provided a $58,800 dollar grant to Oakville's Home Suite Hope for a 2023 Ford Maverick.
Oakville MPP Stephen Crawford says the new truck "expands vital services to single-parent families in Halton, empowering them towards stability."
Home Suite Hope is an Oakville-based charity that offers support services for single-parents and their children.
On April 29, Crawford met with the Home Suite Hope team to learn more about the $58,800 dollar Capital grant from the Ontario provincial government’s OTF used to purchase a new truck that is now driving Home Suite Hope's expanded reach for single parent families in Halton.
“Through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Grant, our government continues to make investments to help support important Oakville organizations like Home Suite Hope (HSH),” said Crawford.
“It gives me great pleasure to know that the $58.8K Capital Grant helped HSH to purchase a pickup truck allowing them to expand their reach to more single parent families and offer a significant helping hand to those in need.”
Home Suite Hope's Executive Director, Sara Cumming said, “For many years our community have [sic] been looking for ways to help our new family participants set up their new homes but the lack of vehicle has continuously been a barrier."
"Our participants have lost out on access to both furniture and food donations, and we have incurred high costs for truck rentals. We are just ecstatic to be able to bring more supports to our families and to divert more furniture away from landfills."
You can now see the Home Suite Hope truck in the community and it’s not hard to miss, as the pickup truck has been wrapped with Home Suite Hope’s logo, contact information and tagline – “Empowering Single Parent Families” – to help spread awareness about the organization around the community.
As of last month, Home Suite Hope has approximately $1,036,000 in liquid assets, with an anticipated budget of around $1,000,000 for the year, according to an April 25 blog post.
