Oakville North—Burlington MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos has announced a $60,900 grant for the Oakvillegreen Conservation Association, allowing them to sustain their school program and improve their fundraising capacity.

Oakvillegreen is a non-partisan environmental charity that has been helping protect and restore nature through community education and local initiatives since 2000.

On Saturday, May 4, 2024, MPP Triantafilopoulos met with the team at the Oakvillegreen Conservation Association to announce that the grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) will be provided to continue to build the organization's resilience and sustainability.

“I'm thrilled that Oakvillegreen has been granted $60,900 from OTF’s Resilient Communities Fund," said MPP Triantafilopoulos. "This investment will strengthen their capacity to protect and restore our local environment, ensuring our community's sustainability and resilience for years to come.”

Awarded in January 2024, the grant will allow Oakvillegreen to continue their Green Roots school program and to improve their fundraising capacity, by funding upgrades to the organization’s fundraising customer relationship management (CRM) database.

According to Oakvillegreen President Karen Brock, “With an expanding network of volunteers and event participants, we rely on an up-to-date 'customer' database, so this funding for our charity’s CRM database is timely."

The Green Roots program offers nature-based activities that are modified according to students’ grade level and interests. Oakvillegreen says the program "empowers educators, parents and community leaders to teach environmental literacy using Oakvillegreen’s suite of connected in-class and outdoor learning activities."

“We are grateful to receive funding to expand our Green Roots youth programming, to ignite that green spark among students, creating life-long nature stewards," continued Brock.
