The Oakville & Milton Humane Society will be holding their most important fundraiser, The Oakville Mutt Strutt & Fall Fair presented by Pets Plus Us Pet Insurance, on Sunday, September 8 at Cornwall Road Park. The day, that has become a favourite fall family event, combines a 5km “Strutt” through beautiful olde Oakville or 1/2km “Stroll” around Cornwall Road Park, with a fun Fall Fair with something for every member of the family!
There’s exciting news this year for the Oakville Mutt Strutt & Fall Fair, as CP24 Host Ann Rohmer will be welcoming everyone to the event and cutting the big blue ribbon that signifies the start of this very important day for the homeless and abused animals of our community.
“Ann Rohmer is the best friend a homeless animal ever had” said Kim Millan, Executive Director of the Oakville & Milton Humane Society, “CP24 Animal House Calls has helped the shelter find forever homes for many, many of our shelter animals and we are so grateful that Ann will be able to join us on September 8th to kick off this very important fundraiser”.
People may pick up a pledge form at the shelter or at pet supply stores and veterinary clinics throughout Oakville, or may set up their own online personal pledge page by going to www.omhs.ca. “Online pledging is safe and secure” said Kim Millan “and it’s one of the easiest ways to raise money for our homeless animals. People can set up their own page, add a photo of their pet, add a personal message about why helping homeless and abused animals is important to them, and set a personal fundraising goal. They will receive a link to their personal fundraising page that they may then send out to all of their email contacts, Facebook friends, Linked In contacts and Twitter followers.”
The community is encouraged to walk in the Oakville Mutt Strutt with or without a pet and there are special prizes for top walkers and top teams. After the Strutt or Stroll, the Fall Fair features dog agility demonstrations, a fun pet show, silent auction, expanded vendor marketplace and a bigger than ever Kids Zone, sponsored by local realtor Sandra Simpson and featuring a giant Beagle Belly Bouncer, carnival games, crafts and face painting! There is truly something for everyone at the Oakville Mutt Strutt & Fall Fair.
The goal for this year’s Oakville Mutt Strutt & Fall Fair is $35,000. The Oakville & Milton Humane Society receives no government funding or funding from any other animal welfare organization to investigate and prosecute animal abuse, cruelty and neglect; to care for and find loving forever homes for the homeless pets of our community; to bring the unconditional acceptance of a therapy pet to the elderly and those in long term care facilities; and to teach lessons of respect, responsibility and compassion towards all living things to the children of Oakville. Events like the Oakville Mutt Strutt & Fall Fair help to make all this possible for the people and pets of our community.
