Oakville & Milton District Real Estate Board's [OMDREB] President Aziz Kanjee will be awarding four local students, each a $2,000.00 post-secondary scholarship. We are honoured to have Mayor Rob Burton joining us in the presentation on Wednesday, June 26, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.
Award recipients were chosen based on their application of a written or video essay topic based on our President’s chosen charity, Halton Healthcare Services’ Navigator Program. The program provides funding to help children and youth who are suffering with mental health issues and require immediate care.
One in five Ontarians under the age of 18 are struggling with a mental health issue but unfortunately, only a fraction of children and youth who need mental health services receive them. Halton Healthcare Service’s Navigator Program, is helping to close that gap for children and youth that need immediate care.
This is an incredibly important year for Navigator as every $1.00 that is donated will be matched by an additional $2.50 from two generous foundations, Amarna and the Mental Wellness Network. Their fundraising goal is $1.25 million by December 2013 and we are focused on doing our part to support this program which is crucial for our community’s children and youth who struggle with mental health illness.
