Oakville Transit is set to expand its successful Ride On-Demand (ROD) service to additional areas starting July 2, 2024. Following the success of the ROD pilot program launched in October 2022, the service will now include new zones and replace some existing routes.

Starting July 2, 2024, several transit routes will be replaced with or supplemented by Ride On-Demand, where trips can be booked quickly and easily using the new Oakville Transit On-Demand mobile app, introduced earlier this spring.

New ROD service areas coming this summer include:

Ride On-Demand Falgarwood:

Route 26, which currently provides rush hour-only fixed route service, will be supplemented with Ride On-Demand Falgarwood. Customers will be able to book a ride to and from any address within this service zone, and the Oakville GO station and Upper Oakville Shopping Centre as the designated transit hubs for this area.

ROD service hours will be Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Some fixed route bus service will be maintained for express service to/from the Oakville GO station during rush hour to accommodate increased passenger volumes.

Ride On-Demand Palermo West/Bronte Creek:

Route 34, which currently provides rush hour-only fixed route service, will be supplemented with Ride On-Demand Palermo West/Bronte Creek. Customers will be able to book a ride to and from any address within this service zone or to Glen Abbey Community Centre and Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, as the designated transit hubs for this area.

This new service will also connect with Route 3 for access to the Bronte GO Station and other fixed routes. ROD service hours will be available Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Some fixed route bus service will be maintained for express service to/from the Bronte GO station during rush hour to accommodate increased passenger volumes.

Ride On-Demand Late Night Service:

The current Late Night Service will be replaced with Ride On-Demand. Similar to the current Late Night Service schedule, Ride On-Demand Late Night Service will depart the Oakville GO station at 11:40 p.m. Monday to Friday (except holidays). With this drop-off-only service, customers will be able to book their trip home from the Oakville GO, using the Oakville Transit On-Demand app.

Ride On-Demand north and southeast Oakville:

Customers in select neighbourhoods in north and southeast Oakville will continue to benefit from Ride On-Demand service, as it will be offered permanently as of July 2. Service hours are from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Home to Hub, currently operating in north and southeast Oakville will be discontinued as Ride On-Demand for this area becomes permanent.

The Town of Oakville says more details on the new Ride On-Demand service zones and schedules will be available on oakvilletransit.ca in the coming weeks.
