Commuters around Oakville should be able to get home quicker now with the launch of Oakville Transit's new mobile app.
Oakville Transit has introduced the Oakville Transit On-Demand mobile app, meant to make it easier for Home to Hub, care-a-van, and Ride On-Demand customers to schedule a trip.
On the new app, features include:
- One tap booking – customers can set their favourite locations on the home screen to schedule a trip with one tap
- Seat reservation – customers can reserve seats for other riders travelling with them
- Live updates – customers can track where their on-demand vehicle is and when it will arrive
The town says that even those without smartphones can book through the web portal or by phone using the voice response system.
In light of this transition, the previous Amble mobile app will be discontinued, effective as of April 10, 2024. The new Ride On-Demand mobile app and web booking system will support Oakville Transit's care-a-van, Home-to-Hub, and Ride On-Demand (north and southeast) services.
Oakville Transit's care-A-van service remains uninterrupted, operating during regular service hours: Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from 7 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday and statutory holidays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Addressing recent technical difficulties experienced by some customers with the Amble app and web booking system, Oakville Transit Director Adrian Kawun said last week, "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience some customers are experiencing and are working with the app provider to resolve the issues."
Anyone in need of extra assistance booking should call Oakville Transit for assistance with booking trips at 905-337-9222, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and speak with a Mobility Coordinator.
