Lakehead University Men's Basketball coach and Oakville's own Ryan Thompson has been awarded the Ontario University Associations Coach of the Year.
The award is given to Lakeheads bench boss after he helped lead the team earned a record of 18-4 in the 2024-25 season along with a central division championship.
Thomson also helped the Thunderwolves boast an 11-1 home record this season.
Under Thompson's coaching, Lakehead ran an incredible offence that averaged 83.5 points per game which was 3rd in the OUA this season and averaged 20.8 assists per game which was number one in their conference.
Thompson himself is a former Basketball player from Lakehead and was a standout himself. He was named to the all-rookie team back in 2010 and was an all-star with OUA west in 2013.
He now joins former coach Scott Morrison as the only coaches from Lakehead to win the Coach of the Year.
