January 2025 to June 2027

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Beginning in late January the Regional Municipality of Halton will commence the Phase 3 Upgrades at the Oakville Water Treatment Plant. This work is required to support the growth of Halton Region and to maintain performance in the efficient operation of the water treatment process. The improvements include repairs to equipment assets within the plant, the installation of green energy equipment, as well as the replacement and expansion of the existing electrical substation.

The current upgrades will improve resiliency to a critical link in the Halton Regional Water System and maintain a “State of Good Repair” for the existing infrastructure. Furthermore, the addition of green energy equipment to the Water Treatment Plant will support the Region’s commitment to a net zero target and provide emission-free back-up power to the facility.

PLANNING AHEAD

To help you plan ahead for construction activity, please read the project related information below. Wherever possible, mitigation plans will be put in place to minimize disruptions and notifications will be provided.

  • Noise: Most of the work for this project will occur indoors however you may experience intermittent noise due to construction activities. Where excessive noise is expected due to a particular task, notification and approximate timeframes will be provided. The work will be scheduled in accordance with local noise by-laws.
  • Dust and Mud: There may be increased levels of dust and mud near the work site. The contractor is required to minimize the impact of construction activities where possible. As excavation is minimal on this project, we expect this to be manageable and confined to the parking area within the plant property.
  • Truck Traffic: You may notice occasional increases in truck traffic around the work site. Please be aware and use extra caution while driving. Truck traffic will mainly be due to the occasional delivery of equipment and every effort will be made to keep the adjacent streets clear.
  • Trees: Tree removal and replacements will be completed in accordance with Halton Region policies. The contractor is also responsible for protection of healthy trees on the property in areas which exterior work will occur during construction.
