Oakville's planning and development council have organized a public meeting in the new year to discuss Midtown developments.
The meeting will take place on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in person at Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Road, and virtually.
The proposed amendment, the Town of Oakville says, aims to align Midtown Oakville’s land-use policies with regional and provincial policies.
Key Changes in the Proposal
The proposed OPA will:
- Revise Midtown Oakville policies: Updates include land use, transportation, urban design, parks, and stormwater management. Minimum and maximum site densities and building heights will also be established.
- Replace existing schedules: Updated schedules will redefine urban growth boundaries, development precincts, and transportation networks to reflect new policy changes.
- Introduce town-wide policies: These include enabling community planning permit systems in Midtown and other parts of Oakville, addressing land use compatibility with transportation infrastructure, and encouraging affordable housing through community improvement plans.
The amendment applies to Midtown Oakville, an area bounded by the QEW to the north, Cornwall Road to the south, Sixteen Mile Creek to the west, and Chartwell Road to the east. Certain applications from developers in Midtown are also under review, involving properties on Davis Road, Cross Avenue, Argus Road, Lyons Lane, and South Service Road East.
