Halton Police are looking for a suspect who they say hit a loss prevention officer after attempting to steal items at a Fortinos grocery store in Oakville.

On Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, the suspect allegedly concealed items while at the supermarket chain on Dundas Street West and Negayawa Boulevard. The suspect, who is described as a 5'6" female in her late 30s with black hair, reportedly tried to leave the supermarket chain without paying for the concealed items.

When the suspect attempted to leave without paying, a loss prevention officer confronted her and informed her she was under arrest, police say. Police allege the woman responded by striking the officer with her purse and using what is believed to be pepper spray before fleeing the scene.

No arrests have been made, police report.
