What's open and closed in Oakville for the 2024 Holidays

Many offices and facilities in Oakville will see temporary closures at public offices, libraries and recreation facilities from Dec. 24 to Jan. 2. Here's what's closed - and open - over the upcoming holidays

As the holiday season is approaching, the town of Oakville has shared its temporary schedule for public facilities closures and service availability between Tuesday, Dec. 24, 202 and Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. 

Here is what to expect during the holiday week:

Town Hall

  • Administrative offices at Town Hall will be closed at noon on December 24, 2024, and will reopen January 2, 2025.
  • You can report urgent problems related to roads, traffic lights and signs, parks and trees or storms, by calling 905-845-6601 and connecting with our after-hours service.
  • Stay up to date by calling the town's snow clearing information line at 905-815-5999. Visit our Snow Clearing page for more information.
  • Online services are available to register for programs or to report concerns such as noise or illegal parking.

Recreation facilities (all community centres, pools, arenas, and seniors centres)

  • Closed at noon on December 24
  • Closed December 25 and 26
  • Closed at 4 p.m. on December 31
  • Closed January 1
  • Sir John Colborne Recreation Centre for Seniors is closed December 24 to January 2
  • Joshua's Creek Arenas, Kinoak Arena, and Maple Grove Arena will be closed from December 24 to January 2

Oakville Public Library branches

  • Closed at 1 p.m. on December 24 and December 31
  • Closed December 25, 26, and January 1

Harbour offices

  • Closed at noon on December 24 to January 2

Cemetery offices

  • Closed at noon on December 24 to January 2

Cold alerts

When Halton Region issues a cold alert, town facilities may be available for use as warming centres. Visit our Cold Alert page for information.

Trafalgar Park outdoor rink

  • Open 10 a.m. to noon on December 24 (recreational skating only)
  • Closed on December 25
  • Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on December 26, 31 and January 1 (recreational skating only)

Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts

  • December 24 to 26: closed
  • December 27 to 29: open
  • December 30: closed
  • December 31: open
  • January 1: closed

Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate

  • Closed December 24 to 26
  • Open from 1 to 4:30 p.m. December 27 to 31
  • Closed January 1

Transit Office

  • Oakville Transit front counter will be closed on December 25 to 27 and January 1.

Transit Service and Schedules

  • December 23: Regular service level
  • December 24: Regular service level, with all service ending at 9 p.m.
  • December 25: Holiday service level
  • December 26: Saturday service level
  • December 27: Regular service level
  • December 31: Regular service with Late Night Service from Oakville GO at 11:40 p.m. and 12:40 a.m. Free service after 7 p.m.
  • January 1: Holiday service level

School specials will not operate during the weeks of December 23 and December 30. Dates not shown will maintain regular scheduled service.

  • Closed at noon on December 24 and will reopen on January 2

  • Closed December 25, 26, 27 and January 1
