What's under construction at the RioCentre?

The RioCentre shopping plaza has lots of trucks and barriers up, but what's it all for?

Over the past month, the RioCentre shopping plaza in Oakville has seen a decent amount of construction activity in the parking lot, congesting traffic in a regularly busy plaza.

Oakville News made multiple attempts to contact staff at the RioCentre regarding what the project is, what it will look like once it's completed, what previous challenges it will address, and how much it will cost but has not received a response at the time of publication.

Ward 5 Councillor Jeff Knoll told Oakville News that the construction underway is to improve the driveway entrance to the property.

The project mainly seems to be focused on repaving the area where customers would enter or exit onto Neyagawa Boulevard and the area surrounding TD Bank. Formerly this exit was a two-way stop and it is unclear whether or not that will change.

While the construction is underway, TD Bank remains open.

The entrances that are open for visitor use during the construction are from Riverbank Way and Dundas Street.
