A local youth (aged 10-14) was rescued yesterday after falling into a ravine at Bronte Creek Provincial Park, just north of the QEW, on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024.

Burlington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers and the Oakville Fire Department responded to the incident. According to Deputy Oakville Fire Chief Dan Boyer, the youth called 911, reporting a back injury.

He hung up before providing further details, however, prompting the rescue team to contact his mother for assistance.

Oakville Fire’s technical rescue team was dispatched and located the youth. Although he reported minor back pain, he was able to walk out of the area with some assistance from firefighters.

"No technical rescues were required," said Deputy Boyer. "We located the individual relatively quickly, and he walked out on his own with a little help from our crews."

The OPP confirmed that the youth’s parents arrived at the scene and took him home.
