Hot off the Olympics fever of the last few weeks, several Oakville athletes have won medals at the 2024 Ontario Summer Games in an exciting and uncommon sport: table tennis.
Four young members of Oakville's Community Table Tennis Association (OCTTA) won a total of eight medals from the games held in London, Ontario last week.
"I am thrilled to share this exciting news about the recent achievements of our local Oakville residents at the Ontario 2024 Summer Games," said Jen Zhou, director of the OCTTA. "Our athletes brought home an impressive array of medals."
The four young medal winners included:
- Kenny Zhang
- U13 Boys Singles: Gold
- U13 Doubles: Gold
- U13 Mixed Doubles: Silver
- William Li
- U13 Doubles: Gold
- Olivia Zhao
- U13 Girls Singles: Bronze
- U13 Doubles: Bronze
- U13 Mixed Doubles: Bronze
- Ryan Wong
- U13 Doubles: BronzeU13 Mixed Doubles: Bronze
"These remarkable young athletes have made our community proud with their dedication and hard work," said Zhou in a statement.
The OCTTA says they will be organizing more community events at their club in September.
