Oshawa Generals centre (and 2023 NHL draft pick) Calum Ritchie has been a staple of the Oshawa community since he joined the team back in the fall of 2021 - so much so, that he has found many opportunities to speak with young fans and make their days better.
One such opportunity presented itself last playoffs, and Calum jumped at the chance to say hello and meet a young fan.
A young Oshawa Generals fan named Chloe who has Autism and ADHD had dreams of meeting her favourite player Calum Ritchie. Her love of Ritchie began when she was given a hockey card of Calum, and she carried it around with her everywhere just in case she ran into him and he could sign the card.
During last seasons playoffs, Chloe came to a game and held up a sign saying "Ritchie's #1 fan." Calum's mom who was also attending the game saw the sign and her if she wanted to meet him.
Chloe and her family immediately said yes and after the game they all went to meet up with Calum.
Calum met with Chloe and gave her one of his game used sticks.
According to Chloe's mom Tina, Chloe doesn't let anyone touch the stick that Calum gave her and that she watches all of his Generals games, Colorado Avalanche games, and World Junior games.
Tina was so thankful of Calum's gesture saying "he has been the sweetest, and kindest young man ever."
